The heat pumps that are made for domestic purposes operate at a temperature of between 30 to 60 degrees. However, several industrial processes require much higher temperatures, while a few industries need a completely different type of technology altogether. Now researchers have successfully developed the world’s first heat pump with the ability to produce temperatures up to 180 degrees Celsius. The advancement can be considered to be huge for Heat Pumps Market as the temperature enables through it could help one-fifth of the European industry reduce its energy consumption by around 70% and become completely climate neutral. Moreover, there are several industries that will benefit from this new technology, and they include fisheries and aquaculture, foodstuffs, oil, metallurgy sectors, and more.
All processes have customized heating needs which ranged from 50 to 100 degrees and upwards to several thousand degrees. A Fifth of industries present in Europe needs temperature for their industrial processes between 100 to 180 degrees. The new pump has the capability to complete this requirement without issue and so has great commercial potential. Furthermore, the new technology would also be regarded as an easy way out for industries looking to reduce their greenhouse gases as well as energy consumption.
The researchers expect the new heat pump technology to facilitate reductions within the industrial energy consumption of between 40 and 70 percent enabled by the recovery of low-temperature waste heat. Consequently, this will also help reduce the need to use gas or electric boilers. Thus, there would be no further requirement to waste any heat, and all the generated heat could be kept by the industries themselves for their own purposes. The idea, in turn, would also lead to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions as the surplus heat generated could be retained and fed into the heat pump, thus, increasing the process temperature.
The team stated that although investment in heat pumps requires money at the start, big savings in the future are guaranteed, which would help recover investment costs relatively faster. The best positive attribute of the heat pump is that it could potentially reduce emissions. Greenhouse gas reduction will have minimal dependence on where the electricity comes from and if it is used in the pump or not.The research team is positive that the technology will be launched into the market during the year 2021 and would be a huge success within industrial manufacturing units.
